For those wishing to know: a long novel, partly autobiographical, but 
mainly a combinations of things James Ewing Ritchie felt strongly about, 
and lecturers on throughout the book.  Despite good reviews, the novel 
doesn't hold together, but nevertheless is useful for Mr. Ritchie's 
moralizing.
