For those wishing to know: this 1669 book is a rather confused disapproval
of the way the medival Popes had brought their nephews into powerful
positions when they became Pope, and that many of those nephews used their
position to acquire great wealth etc. for their families (which of course
were also the families of the Popes). It's not systematic and at one
stage Leti decides to go backwards in history and of course that fails
when he's trying to tell the history. Leti is not exactly anti-Papal, and
even justifies why the Popes needed to bring in their nephews, but the
whole isn't a glowing testimony to the state of the church.

All the best,
David,
Damp England, but the rain has stopped now there's puddles everywhere
