Thanks for the help of Don Leslie and Janice today as we took 12 dogs from
the shelter to run.

The backyard is full and many of these dogs may be euthanized on Monday or
Tuesday because of space so if you are interested in any of them you should
get to the shelter on Saturday or Monday morning.

I apologize for this long email for 12 dogs at one time is a lot to report.

To go right to the web site and see pictures of all the dogs plus pics of
the first team with Theo and Lorelai in lead you can go to:

DOGS:

The puppies: Chloe, Kimik and Carma.

These are 8 month old pointer crosses with very short coats. All 3 are very
small at less than 40 pounds. They will need a dog barn or an insulated
house. They were quite thin when they came into the shelter but with the
good feeding for the last couple of weeks they are looking quite healthy.

CHLOE: #12-14-1 House I. Chloe was the only dog today that was a bit too
afraid to run. She is a favorite of mine as she is so very sweet. She is
super high energy but I think she would make a great pet and and active
hiking companion. She would be devoted to you for life if you saved her
from the shelter. I think with some work she might even like to pull!

CARMA #12-14-2 House D. Carma is the shyest of the 3 pups. We weren’t
sure when we took her what she would do in a team. All these pups haven’t
seen a lot of new things and haven’t been worked with very much and were
fairly hard to harness as they laid down. But Carma did GREAT. She is a
hard puller and has good speed. A nice gait and a friendly attitude with
other dogs shows she has much greater potential as she grows up than to have
ended up at the shelter.

KIMIK #12-14-3 House E This is the only male of the 3 pups. He is high
energy and a bit barky when people are around. He just wants love and
attention. He did great in the team also. A good hard worker with a
beautiful gait. He has good speed and has a lot of room to grow and reach
his full potential.

SABLE #12-9-4 House G. She was one of the stars of the day. She has been
at the shelter for quite awhile and is always active. She is playful and
friendly. She is a kennel mate to the 3 pups above. She is only 1 year old
and WOW can this girl run! She is very fast and driven. We put her in lead
and she did really well. She is hard on the line at all times and would
make a great limited or open class sprint dog. She is small. Less than 40
pounds.

LORELAI #12-9-3 House H. Came in with Sable and is probably her sister.
Another super fast dog with a lot of drive. She is happy and playful and
high energy also. We put her in lead and she came back to the truck that
way along with Theo (see below) as the 2 shelter lead dogs. She is a bit
more submissive than her sister but she is still very young and could gain a
lot of confidence in the right home. She is also small.

THEO #12-12-4 House J. Theo was found near Musher’s Hall and no one has
claimed him. He is a black with some white pointer mix (though the shelter
has pointer/black lab, but there is no lab in this boy!). He can be a bit
shy but in a team he just blossoms. We started him out in wheel where he
was hard on the tug line the whole time. We moved him into lead with my
lead dog Robin and he did so well that we then moved Lorelai up with him to
bring us home. He is quite head shy so you need patience when harnessing
and moving him around. He has a super nice gait and is a very driven dog.
He needs a bit more confidence to be a star leader but he has that
potential.

JOSE #12-26-9 House B Jose is a 7 year old sprinty dog that looks and acts
much older than his years. It seems he has had a rough life. He is very
thin. His ex owner said that he is a lead dog although we didn’t put him up
front today. He was growley with the other dogs we put him beside even a
female so we ended up running him singly. He has a rough gait but that
could all be from his health condition. He would need some patience and TLC
to bring him back to good health and happy demeanor but he might work for
someone with time and patience to work with him.

AMBER #12-26-11 House F. Amber is a 7 year old female who is driven and
loves to run. We put her in lead where she did an OK job but didn’t seem
entirely comfortable in front. She is a nice dog with a sweet disposition
who would make a nice rec dog for someone who would like an older female
that knows the ropes.

CLOUD #12-26-8 House C. Cloud is an older male with some frostbitten areas
on him (one place that I won’t mention---but OUCH!!) including missing a
part of one of his ears. He is around 6 years old but seems older. Another
rough life. He is friendly and gets along with other dogs. He seems to
possibly have some chiropractic issues as his gait was not good and he
seemed to have some problems running very fast. With some vet intervention
he might turn out to be a loyal and hard working dog for a rec team. He was
foaming at the mouth to go and each time we stopped. You could see that
drive and desire in him.

(all of the above dogs are pointer/hound mixes with short coats)

RUGER #12-21-2 House K. Ruger is a larger male, grey husky with a good
winter coat. He has excellent bloodlines and runs lead and skijors. He is
a nice all around dog. Very friendly. Nice around other dogs. This big
male is strong and powerful. He is a good puller with a lot of drive. We
put him in lead with Robin and he is all business. He would make a great
addition to a rec/distance team that likes to go camping. He has also been
inside so is housebroken and loves to ride in a car. He is 5 years old and
already neutered so you could run him in your team tomorrow!

MOLLYANNA #12-26-22 House L. MollyAnna is a sweetheart! She has terrible
kennel cough right now (as do several of the shelter dogs!!) but we figured
this might be her last chance so we took her out to run. She was recently
adopted into a pet family but wasn’t used to being inside and tore some
blinds. But this dog needed a JOB!! She loves to run. She is a good hard
worker with a lot of drive. Even though she was hacking quite a bit, she
was still hard on the line the whole time. She is very personable and a
real love. She would make a great kids dog or pet/rec dog. Since this is
her 2nd time through the shelter her days are limited.

It is sad for all of us that are so involved with the shelter dogs when we
run dogs of this caliber knowing that many of them might loose their life in
the next few days because of space. Most of these dogs would be a good
addition to any team although a lot of them will need some TLC and warm
housing.

Thanks again to Leslie Don and Janice! It was a chilly day on the 4 wheeler
with a lot of dogs that we had no idea if they would run or not!

And thanks to Janice for taking the team picture today (until her camera got
too cold!) and for keeping the shelter site updated!
