The Fairbanks North Star Borough plating board is having a meeting
this coming Wednesday, 29 May, to take comments on a proposal from
DNR to make 11,200 acres south and east of Hipas Road available for
recreational cabin sites. DNR wants to allow the development of up to
48 lots ranging in size from 5 to 20 acres. All but two sections of
the development are south of the river, but ALL access will be via 25
mile CHSR (which is HIPAS Road, I'm pretty sure) to Baseline, and
east on Baseline to the parcels. I we all need to let the Platting
board know that Baseline is heavily used as a main east-west trail
through Two Rivers and that 48 new properties using it for access has
the potential to really foul things up.
The meeting will be this coming Wednesday, 29 May, starting at 6 PM
at the Borough Assembly Chambers. If you can't attend in person,
write, call, or email Martin Gutoski, FNSB Platting Officer at
459-1260, fax 459-1254, or mgutoski at co.fairbanks.ak.us.
This is important. We can have an impact at this point - it'll be
much more difficult to be heard later in the process. Pass the word.
