All,
I know this topic is beginning to sound like an election ad ... and saying it louder and more often will only lessen the worth of the message... But, please keep trying to find a diplomatic way to encourage all owners of lost ID-less dogs to ID their dogs. Some of us will always attempt to make safe passage for a lose dog, especially these days with our backcountry having become a mine field of snares and traps... It was risky, at best, before the wolf hype for any lose dog... and now none of us are safe even walking side by side with lose dogs, or dogs on long leashes even... at any rate...
It goes without saying that catching and recovering a dog to its home is never done without some sacrifice. (Today, my cat was almost killed, my dog box got chewed up and I was late for work, and had to not run my errands before work which will result in an extra trip in to town.) This afternoon, thanks to dumb-luck timing; the compassion and willingness of individuals to aid dogs in potential danger and the versatility and availability of our networking system, we managed to connect the dots between these run-a-way Siberians and their home base.
Most likely anyone on these lists by now, has IDs on their dogs... And with everyones' keen eye on our affordable community and beyond resources for keeping our dogs safer - Get it through (read:gentle nudge; free tag sample; coupon or gift card to an honest kick in the ...!!) to those that don't have access to computers and who may not typically indulge in social channels... and who somehow do not seem to be motivated by the very intrinsic merit of any kind of ID on their dogs... It would save so much worry, time, effort and in some cases lives ...
That's all...
