If a person changed the capitalization of their e-mail address, they could successfully check in two or more requests with the same address. No more. Actually, I put some code in to prevent this when I first wrote the program, but apparently it didn't work. Thanks! Question regarding barrage of Chilean Requests

If you happen to drop by the requests list, we have had a recent influx from Chile. It appears that many of them have very short addresses. I have no idea if these addresses would work. I would expect to see the name of a city perhaps. Am I expecting too much? I don't want to waste a bunch of time, supplies, and money, but I don't want to disappoint a big group of interested people. I have a similar situation for a Colombian address as well. Both Chile and Colombia have postal web sites, but they are in Spanish and my ability to operate in that language is quite limited. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

PG makes a BIG difference

Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to Google an institution to which we are sending a copy of the PG CD and PG DVD. The information on the web site I found is dated 2001 and the name of the head of the college listed there is not the name of the person to whom the package is addressed. That said, however, the web site reports that their library contains 1000 books and 6 journals. Therefore, our DVD of 9400 books should vastly improve their library. Comments in the request indicate that the institution serves 1200 undergraduate students and faculty. A suggestion from a CD/DVD requester

I received a response to one of the automated messages generated by the CD/DVD fulfillment system. The note mentioned Digit, said to be the leading computer magazine in India, which is distributed each month with two CDs of content. I am of the opinion that my correspondent thinks that we could possibly distribute the Project Gutenberg CD through this magazine. I looked very briefly at their web site www.thinkdigit.com. It looks to me like an Indian version of PC World or another similar magazine. The monthly CDs appear to be a compilation of different resources, not the sole product of any one source. I doubt that we would want to, or could afford to, advertise in such a magazine. If they mentioned us, we would very likely be Slashdotted with an overwhelming number of requests. I use printable labels

The printable cds are not any more expensive than the ordinary ones, but the printer is fairly pricey. I use a laser printer though, ink jet ink won't take any moisture before it runs, and waterproofing is quite pricey.
