[dvdvol] What should I do?

I purchased a number of packages of Verbatim DVD-R media which it appears that my Sony DVD drive doesn't like. Should I replace the DVD drive and use this media, or (what I think I prefer) keep the drive, pass along this media to another US-based volunteer, and get different media for myself? I'm near Chicago. Thank you for your suggestions. John Hagerson
