There is about 20MB or so of extra space on the best of CD. It's not a lot, but it's something. Thanks for your help and sorry it took so long to get back to you. Sincerely Aaron Cannon At 10:13 AM 5/10/2005, Scott Clous wrote:
I've signed up for that list, I think between updating the existing books for the updating the CD, that will get me up to speed. Is there room for more on the CD?
After I understand how to update that one, we can look at the DVD.
Thx.

Thanks for your interest in doing this. As for determining what to include... well, that's the big question and the major difficulty in making the compilation. You might consider asking on Distributed Proofreaders and gutvol-d for people's opinion as to what are some titles they think should be included. That's how the CD was built.
You can find information on how to join the gutvol-d mailing list at http://www.gutenberg.org/
Good luck and let me know if I can be of assistance.

I have a bit of time, and a bit enough drive to develop the ISO, etc.
I was wondering how one decides what is the most deserving, but for me,
limiting to English is a good idea, and yes, then making sure they are the most recent versions is ideal.

Scott,
That would be great! One thing to note is that we have revised the web copies of a number of the items that we have on the August 2003 CD and the December 2003 DVD. Ideally, we would include the "latest and greatest" versions of each of our files. Obviously, there would need to be a cut-off somewhere or it would never get done (and which is part of the reason why it has yet to be done).
I tried to use the catalog data in XML and use that to generate HTML for navigation for a subset of our books. I was able to automate part and I had to hand tweak part, mainly because my tools did not understand the byte order mark at the beginning of the XML file and ignored the necessary 8-bit back to 16-bit translation. If you would like to see any of my efforts, please let me know.
Have a great day!

Question--The last Best of DVD and CD were made in August 2003, could I
update one for 2005, with newly added material (Sherlock Holmes stuff, etc.) and submit it back to you all?
