Hi, Rick. There haven't been any changes. As you guessed, the mail is submitted to Postfix (the mail transport agent) on pglaf.org as soon as the upload completes : it is part of the same program, so there is no mechanism for delay. If you are seeing a delay in arrival, this is probably due to some sort of queueing. Usually messages are delivered within a few seconds, but business at enther end can cause it to be delayed. If you look at the full headers of the message you receive, you can see the string of "Received: " lines. This will show the exact time it was submitted for delivery, and all the steps. You should be able to see where delays occurred, along that processing chain. Arrival in your inbox is at the client side. How often does your client check for new messages, and can you trigger it manually? The "Received: " headers will show you when a message arrives at your email host (i.e., an IMAP or POP server or similar). It waits there until your email client fetches it. - Greg On Fri, Feb 21, 2020 at 06:23:23PM -0800, Rick Tonsing wrote:
The time between the upload finishing at https://upload.pglaf.org/ with a confirmation message that the upload was successful and the email confirmation has increased significantly in the past few weeks. The one I just submitted took 8 minutes between the confirmation screen and the same message arriving in my inbox. I had one earlier today which took about 15 minutes. The time used to be typically about 1 minute with a very few as long as two minutes.
I would assume that sending the email would have coincided (give or take a delay of a second or two) with the confirmation screen on pglaf since the confirmation states that the file was received and processing was complete.
Cheers,
Rick
