
James, I agree with you entirely, but RST does not give me a way to do it. If you specify :: you get a set of <pre> tags and absolutely everything within them is passed through as is. I had to change '*' to '_' to get the underscores in there. The text actually says that wives names are in asterisks, so if I simply left the underscores out I'd remove information from the file.
