Hi Don, I am not talking markdown or Restructured. I am talking about a true markup langauge. as Meta-language XML or TeX can be used. The idea is to have tags which contain information that is not truly foramtting. E.G say a pagenumber Tag just states that this page is pagenumber n it could be intergrateg into page break like \page{5}. You could have a footer of an page that look like this \footer{\right{\bold{page} \italic{5}}}} This footer contains the number of the page but does have anything to due with the page or pagenumber tag. regards Keith.
