      Thanks for illumuninating responses to my question. In a strategic effort to educate Guiguts users who are stuck in their ways I have added an "Epub Friendly" check that flags problematic HTML--if someone would like to flesh out the Perl code below I would be grateful and could give developer rights at the Guiguts sourceforge project.
