Don't know other than presumably not enough people in the word run Linux to make it worth their while. You CAN however use Linux to install Mobipocket's free mobile device compatible Reader -- Mobipocket being part of Amazon -- said reader supports about 50 different popular mobile devices. The Mobipocket Reader will also allow you to confirm the fact that you are not adding a conforming TOC to your mobi files.
