so maybe this is a case where calibre insists on doing it right,
and none of the viewer-apps agree. i don't know. i don't care.
this is a problem for the people who support the .epub format,
and i'm not one of those idiots. i have no craving for confusion.

if "the codes are in there", then why would you assume that
there is something wrong with the .epub? if the problem is
with the display, then the cause might be the viewer-apps...
too bad you don't have a reference implementation. sorry.
