if it is "implausible" plain-text is sufficient to express the structure making up a book, then how was david moynihan over at blackmask.com ever able to take all the project gutenberg e-texts and -- _singlehandedly_ -- convert 'em to 6 formats?
do you notice how _bowerbird_ shoots into the side of a barn and then draws a bull's-eye around the bullet hole? of course it is _possible_ to do blind format conversions. (to some people at least, others still struggle with their html.) nobody _denied_ that. nobody _wants_ that. we want a _high-quality_ _flexible_ master format that preserves many _more_ attributes than any plain text format does. what you don't notice is, that you are talking about chicken while everybody else is talking about _geese_. or should i say: you are talking bowerbird while everybody else is talking turkey? -- Marcello Perathoner webmaster@gutenberg.org
