ePub is never derived into any other format (currently). All our text formats (txt, html, epub [and consequently MOBI], and pdf) for books we scan are derived from the _images.tar/.zip (page scans) and the abbyy.gz/xml (OCR data).

supported formats can be derived from an ePub, and it seems to me that an ePub
file has the greatest fidelity across the board. When will a derivation path
from ePub be created?
