But, for the uninformed.
For many unix tools for Macs one can use
I will discuss the caveats of the above package managers, except
that they require that Xcode be installed and in Xcode you have to
have the command line tools installed via preferences -> downloads.
There is, also, Homebrew, though I do not have any experience with it.
