Jana, That's interesting. The Kindle can definitely display PNG files in a book, though. The Nook loads this book but you can't get past the title page because it freezes the device. I'll try changing the title image to a JPEG and see what happens. Another possible bug: in the EPUB META info the Title is listed as "UnknownTitle" and the Author is given as "Purnendu Narayana Sinha; UnknownAuthor". I specify both values in the .. meta::. I don't know about RST, but if you want to include a cover image with an HTML e-book, it has to be a jpg, not a png. I'm guessing it would probably be the same in RST, since I think it's a limitation of either epub or mobi or some readers or a combination of these.

One of the things I did with my RST file was to include a cover image, like this:
.. meta:: :PG.Id: 9999 :PG.Title: A Study of the Bhagavata Purana :PG.Rights: Public Domain :PG.Producer: Bhakta Jim :PG.Credits: This file was produced from page images at the Internet Archive. :DC.Creator: Purnendu Narayana Sinha :DC.Title: A Study of the Bhagavata Purana or Esoteric Hinduism :DC.Language: en :DC.Created: 1901 :coverpage: images/bhagap_cover.png
There really is a bhagap_cover.png file in my images directory. However, the file does not get included in the EPUB archive. I do not refer to this file anywhere in the HTML. I definitely include it in the zip file I upload.
