So, I don't think the SCOTUS decision will change our practices or invalidate prior public domain decisions.
But congress *could* extend-back again. At which point in time Amazon, Apple, etc., would start charging for the "free" copies of books PG volunteers has transcribed for them for "free" and which PG has provided to them for "free", with Amazon, Apple, etc. now "splitting the take" with the now-renewed copyright holders.
