Thanks for the tip.  I actually did try to compile it, and ran into the process.h error.  It never occurred to me I could just delete the line.

gutspell.c includes a Windows/DOS-specific header, process.h, on line 34,
so delete that line.

Then just type:

$ make gutspell

(You don't always need a Makefile.)
