How do i get a work cleared for copyright if it doesn't have a date on the cover page? I am working on a book that I know for a fact is from the nineteenth century. The publisher, however, neglected to include the date.
If you can match it up with an edition in a library catalog (Library of Congress or the British Library) are good for this, it'll probably be clearable. Bonus points if it says it was printed in the US, since then you only have to establish printing pre-1989, not pre-1923 (in most cases.)
