you're in the right spot, catherine. you can ask all those questions here. you can also visit the "f.a.q." webpages -- found at http://www.gutenberg.org -- where you'll find extensive information, on questions you don't even have yet... it sounds like you're working alone, but as several people have already told you, there are a lot of people working together at distributed proofreaders, so you should visit their website -- http://www.dp.net -- and see if communal effort appeals to you. if there's a part of the digitization process that you are not particularly fond of doing, you'll find people there who _like_ doing it, and will be glad to help you with that task. on the other hand, if you like doing all of it, and you prefer working alone, that's fine too. the important thing is to have fun. that's why we're all fighting here -- it's how we have fun... ;+) -bowerbird
