you'll need to tell us _why_
the .txt files are not "useful"
for you to read, so we can
evaluate what you're saying.

for instance, i find lines that
are up-to-80-characters-long
are simply too wide for me...

i like lines that are shorter...

p.s.  but the point of the
point that i was making is
that the maximum number
of machines that can show
an e-text is obtained _if_
you pre-wrap the lines...
if you have an argument
against _that_ point,
you would be on-topic...
