cool. thanks for weighing in again. :+) one thing i'd suggest to you is to take a look at some of the .html versions prepared by distributed proofreaders where they have used side-notes. it's pretty impressive, considering they are operating without any javascript... (but yeah, your comment about the difficulty of getting well-formatted pages when printing from .html is well-taken...) -bowerbird
