The PG version seems very clean, but a bit more "modern".
I do recall seeing "corrections" made to a P&P in PG quite a while ago, where someone had updated older spellings, assuming that they were mistakes. That might account for those differences. I recall being annoyed at the time, when I ran a diff and saw changes like "shew" to "show". More annoying was that it had not been done consistently throughout the text. Actually, as I go and look again, the current text still has a mix of "shew" and "show" used in it. So don't expect it to match any particulat print edition. Take a look at: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/1342/old/ to see the jumble of older files. --Andrew
