There's a lot you can complain about our output. But straight quotes? Seriously? For historical reasons, adding curved quotes in is a pain in the ass, that done properly involves someone looking at every single quote in a book--and if you don't want it done properly, a program can do it for you instantaneously. There's a very real question of whether this tedious procedure adds more value to the output then other things editors could do.
