Hi, Greg, Not sure if you're the one to contact about this, but I saw the recent thread about digitizing books on microfilm. For what it's worth, the University of Minnesota library, near where I live, has a reader set up such that you can get it to E-mail you digital photos of the microfilm. I'd be willing to try this on one of the books in question if you like, but I'm not sure the quality and file format would be suitable. I have some samples on my computer at home that I could send you (big files, though) if you want to get a feel for what I can get. Caveats: Unfortunately, the way they have it set up, you can only get photos by E-mail (the machine doesn't have a CD burner on it), and the only file format they'll give you is an odd multi-page TIFF with pretty low resolution, as I recall (I used it some months back, and I may be misremembering). The samples I have to send are from a very old book with really crummy type. Also, it's essentially a manual reader, so it's very labor-intensive to scan books this way. But it might be better than nothing. Let me know what you think,
