Actually, I've intended to use TEI or something more capable to create a canonical version from the start. My original questions merely had to do with the plain text version, which I'm trying to prepare without losing too much information.

Ifyou do create a TEI master, and you follow the PGTEI v0.4 DTD ... you don't have to worry about the txt and html. (or pdf) They will get generated automatically from the TEI master. If you want some help or a second set of eyes for this, give me a holler. I'd be happy to help out. Josh
