https://ebay.us/m/3rPFOz This seller is obviously using the PG name for advertising their product. When do the royalties payments kick in for commercial use of the trademark? There are other examples as well of course. But I can’t even understand what’s going on here: https://ebay.us/m/EzvyT5 …Ross…
https://www.gutenberg.org/policy/permission.html We've received no royalties from those pages and they should not be "trading on" the Project Gutenberg name without paying royalties. It's proven nearly impossible to get eBay, ditto Amazon, to do anything about such misuse. ~ Greg On Sat, Jun 28, 2025 at 11:10:49AM -0700, Ross Olson wrote:

I'm in a mood. I just messaged the seller with links to the permissions section. Charlene (puppernutter) On Sat, Jun 28, 2025 at 2:21 PM Greg Newby <gbnewby@pglaf.org> wrote:

FWIW, Windows 11 Notepad now has a simple markdown subset built-in. Stores to an "md" suffix file but renaming that to a "txt" file shows that it is traditional markdown, which can be translated to simple HTML. Maybe useful for people who don't know a lot of computerize, but want to do a simple book. <h1>Book Title</h1> <h2>Chapter 1</h2> <h3>Chapter Heading</h3> <h4>Chapter Subheading</h4> <h5>Section</h5> <h6>Subsection</h6> <p>Body text -- The <strong>boy</strong> stood on the <em>burning</em> deck ...</p>
For those on other platforms you can use JEdit for Markdown and for RST: https://plugins.jedit.org/plugins/?MarkdownPlugin https://chiplicity.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Using_Sphinx/ToolsForReStructure... On my Goodreads blog I wrote a bunch of articles on how to take RST and convert it to plain text, HTML, and TeX. That was how I did all of my PG titles. I haven't done one in awhile, but it was a pretty good process: https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_posts/21812653-put-old-books-back-in-p... This is almost certainly packaging and selling the download from kiwix, which we facilitate.
