New Server vs. Kindle Third Generation?

I have not been able to get PG to download books to my Kindle 3rd generation wifi-only machine since PG moved to the new server. I have confirmed that everything does still work on the 2nd generation machines, which includes the DX. I have also confirmed that my Kindle 3rd generation still works with all the other free websites such as feedbooks and freekindlebooks. www.gutenberg.org doesn't work at all on K3 -- ie home page doesn't display. m.gutenberg.org home page comes up but downloads don't work. "Magic Catalog" still works on K2s, but doesn't work on K3. Mimetype problem ? -- just a "shot in the dark" guess.

If you put 100 monkeys in a room with 100 typewriters and give them infinite time they will type all of Shakespeare's works. Give them only 3 month and they will write the Kindle software. The Kindle does not know that DNS entries sometimes change and so it keeps sending requests to gutenberg.org to the old IP address. In short: reboot. (Hey! It's like Windows.) -- Marcello Perathoner webmaster@gutenberg.org

Wow, and I had assumed the Kindles were too dumb to cache anything! The monkeys must be working overtime. Thanks. Anyone else runs into this, the Kindle's software "Three Finger Salute" is performed as follows: Home->Menu->Settings->Menu->Restart It takes about 30 seconds before any change becomes apparent, and then the Kindle goes through its long-winded "reload everything" routine.
