New ebookmaker for testing

I made a DP forum posting for this topic: https://www.pgdp.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=68280 Here is what I submitted: For those who test DP productions prior to final upload at https://upload.pglaf.org : With thanks to Eric Hellman, one of our programmers, there is now a new updated version of ebookmaker (previously known as epubmaker). If you notice any problems, please email me: gbnewby@pglaf.org or, if it is more of a feature request, submit an issue to the tracker here: https://github.com/gutenbergtools/ebookmaker The new version is here: https://ebookmaker2.pglaf.org After some testing, we will do two things: 1. Update https://ebookmaker.pglaf.org (and variations) to point to the new version. 2. Replace the production version on www.gutenberg.org to use the new version for all new uploads. Depending on whether problems are encountered, this change might occur in a week or so. Or, we might need a longer testing period. We will then gradually run the new version on the previous eBooks (i.e., #1-#60000something). For the most part, this new version of ebookmaker is indistinguishable from the old. There are a number of under-the-covers improvements, including getting it into a source code repository with better documentation for installation and dependencies. It also includes capability to make a simple book cover, when cover images are not already part of the eBook. It also handles some error conditions or input variations more effectively than the old version. - Greg

Greg, I was able to bring up https://ebookmaker2.pglaf.org earlier this morning but now it's giving me 403 forbidden. I have a pretty good collection of RST files I could test this with, including an unfinished one. James Simmons On Wed, Nov 13, 2019 at 8:06 AM Greg Newby <gbnewby@pglaf.org> wrote:

Thanks for this, James. The server was undergoing some maintenance, but is back now. Your tests of RST will be welcome. - Greg On Wed, Nov 13, 2019 at 12:52:53PM -0600, James Simmons wrote:

James, others: The system is still suffering from rebuilding a RAID array, so I have quiesced it by shutting off Apache, rsync, and other services. I might just relocate ebookmaker to another server, but for now it is not available at https://ebookmaker2.pglaf.org - Greg On Wed, Nov 13, 2019 at 11:37:15AM -0800, Greg Newby wrote:

Greg, I've tried this a couple of times on a half finished RST file with no link to a cover image, hoping to see what the automatically generated book cover would look like. I downloaded the epub format and looked at it with an archive utility and did not see any image files in it. Other than that, it seems to work pretty well. James, I've retested ebookmaker on an rst with no coverpage link and the epub included a generated cover image. so either there is a misconfiguration (the mess with the RAID rebuilding has delayed my getting access to the config to check) or the rst file is different from the ones I've been testing with. If you could send me the zipped rst files you saw this wiith, I'd be happy to send you what I get. Eric

The server that ebookmaker2 lives on is down for some long-running maintenance. It had a double-RAID failure and some corruption, so is being rebuilt. I will try to get it up on a different system. Testing indicated it was working ok, with one or two feature anomalies. I appreciate all the testing! - Greg On Wed, Nov 13, 2019 at 06:06:17AM -0800, Greg Newby wrote:
