I've recently done a major overhaul of the Wikipedia article about Project Gutenberg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gutenberg The content of Wikipedia is copied to many places all over the web (rather like PG texts) and this article could be the first exposure to PG for many people. Anyone interested in suggesting ways to improve it would be welcome to email me--or, given the nature of a wiki, go ahead and edit it themselves. Andrew

Neat, thanks. I added a mention of pgcc, also of me. This is a nice update, and seems pretty even-handed. -- Greg

Hello. I would just like to add a note about articles in wikipedia. Kurzweil 1000 and Kurzweil 3000 are software packages for the blind or others who can't read printed materials. The Kurzweil 3000 is for learning disabled and the 1000 is not. Both are rather expensive software packages. Anyway, both now include support for pulling directly from wikipedia, so even very inexperienced computer users can learn about PG. They also support directly retrieving PG ebooks and I think they support looking things up in the catalog but I can't verify that. My only point in mentioning this is that many blind people who have no knowledge of screen readers or computers in general will hopefully still have exposure to PG because Kurzweil is fairly easy to use. You can learn more at: http://www.kurzweiledu.com/ Unfortunately Kurzweil 1000 new sells for $995 US. There are other lower cost scanning solutions but not as accessible.
