I thought this might be interesting, given recent discussion about WordPress as an HTML editing tool. I haven't visited the site and have no opinion as to its usability or appropriateness, although usually these kind of things are overly focused on ease of use and not focused enough on technical correctness. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [read20-l] pressbooks launch Date: Tue, 22 Nov 2011 15:15:19 -0500 From: Hugh McGuire <hugh@hughmcguire.net> Reply-To: Hugh McGuire <hugh@hughmcguire.net> To: Read20 List <read20-l@lists.panix.com> Hi all, We just opened PressBooks -- the simple online (e+p)book production tool built on WordPress -- to the public. Here's the launch post: http://pressbooks.com/about/pressbooks-launch and a nice article in Read Write Web: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/easy_e-books_for_everyone_pressbooks_la... I looked and played with this a little bit, and it is not perfectly obvious how one would work this into the PG workflow. It seems to generate decent ePub output. It does not generate HMTL. It can generate XML but that XML is junk. So, it seems like one would have to generate ePub and then convert that back into HTML to make PG happy. Still, to my eyes it looks more like a pain than a help.
