Lowestoft in olden times, by Francis D. Longe 53858

[Files: 53858-0.txt; 53858-h.htm]
For those wishing to know: Francis Davy Longe was a Barrister and General
Inspector of the Local Government Board, gave a series of lectures at
Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, towards the end of the 19th century and they
were printed, with additions, in this book. Unlike the well-known
historian of Lowestoft (Gillingwater), Francis manages to show Yarmouth in
a good light, despite their turning to piracy etc. to thrawt Lowestoft's
finishing ambitions. The book is really only upto the early 1700's.
All the best and happy New Year,
David,
Rainy and damp England
