A Letter on the late Post Office Agitation, by Charles John Vaughan 63740 [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/6/3/7/4/63740 ] [Files: 63740-0.txt; 63740-h.htm] For those wishing to know: Rev. Charles John Vaughan was headmaster of Harrow School, England (famous public school). Around 1849 the Sunday observance groups tried to get all clergy to sign a remonstrance against the London Post Office changing their existing Sunday working to reduce the number of their staff in the country who had to work on Sundays. Vaughan explains here why he wouldn't sign it. All quite reasonable, but the groups insisted no work at all and opposed the change. All the best, David Darkest England
