A Dissertation on the Books of Origen against Celsus, Francis Cunningham 52032 [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/2/0/3/52032 ] [Files: 52032-0.txt; 52032-h.htm] For those wishing to know: an undergraduate thesis which won the Hulsean Essay prize at Cambridge in 1811. By looking at Celsus' book which attacked early Christianity, Francis sought to show that it was early evidence for many of the beliefs of the Church of England. Francis Cunningham, later Vicar of Lowestoft, was a key leader of the British Bible Society and was responsible for introducing George Borrow to it. All the best, David, Very hot England
