Richard Lockwood, Vicar of Lowestoft, England, was "troubled" by "someone" who encouraged the Church of England attenders of Lowerstoft to join and help promote the newly formed British and Foreign Bible Society. Lockwood was dismayed that any churchman would help the Bible Society as it accepted members from any church, including dissenters. Lockwood wrote this to put his parishioners straight. It's a two-faced pamphlet as Lockwood knew full well that the "someone" was the Rev. Francis Cunningham, Vicar of the next parish (Pakefield). Cunningham later responded to this pamphlet with one of his own defending the society. He also had the last laugh Cunningham eventually became Vicar of Lowestoft and is still remembered in the town today - whereas Lockwood has really faded from memory. All the best, David, England - cooling down a bit and the rain's stopped
