Gillingwater's History of Lowestoft, by Edmund Gillingwater 51654 [Editor: A. E. Murton] [Author: A. E. Murton] [Subtitle: a reprint: with a chapter of more recent events] [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/1/6/5/51654 ] [Files: 51654-0.txt; 51654-h.htm] For those interested: Edmund Gillingwater, a native of the small town of Lowestoft in eastern England, published the definitive history of his town (and the near civil war with neighbouring Yarmouth) in 1790. Considerable changes occured in the 1860's with the coming of the railway and A. E. Murton, also a Lowestoft native, added a chapter to bring events upto 1897. Murton's text has slight variations from Gillingwater's, but nothing that makes a great deal of different. All the best, David, Fairly warm but damp England
