The Depot for Prisoners of War at Norman Cross Huntingdonshire,by Walker 43487 [Author: Thomas James Walker] [Subtitle: 1796 to 1816] [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/4/3/4/8/43487 ] [Files: 43487-0.txt; 43487-h.htm] For those wishing to know: the book covers the world's first purpose-built prisoner of war camp at Norman Cross, just a few miles south of Peterborough. Whilst being a very readable book, it is also the only major study done of Norman Cross, and brings all sorts of materials together. Thomas Walker was a local antiquarian and was able to interview some of the old people who still remembered the site. Today it's just green fields and a plaque. All the best, David Very hot and sunny England, although I'm told it will be cold and rainy soon
