The Foundling, by John Church 58039 [Subtitle: or, The Child of Providence] [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/8/0/3/58039 ] [Files: 58039-0.txt; 58039-h.htm] For those wishing to know: this is John Church's (c1780-1826?) autobiography, published in 1823 by himself, and mainly aimed at the members of his church. He doesn't cover (and in many cases even allude) to the multiple sexual assault scandals he was involved in, and it's certainly not meant as a defence or explanation of his life. The first part covers his early life but is much mixed with long passages about theology, almost mini-sermons. The second part is intended to show his spiritual development, and whilst it again covers lots of theology, it is more a sermon. Nevertheless, it's the only proper source for his life, and it's an extremely rare book. All the best, David, England, with puddles everywhere
