For those wishing to know: another of Ritchie's books about what it was 
like to live in London in the 1800's.  Many of the sketches are anti-drink 
but they often uncover an unknown side to London.  All of sketches relate 
to London at night - hence the title.  The first sketch, about when 
Ritchie stayed with a crowd all through to night to see a man hung in the 
morning is particularly graphic.
