For those wishing to know: In 1867 Rev. Mayow Wynell Mayow, Vicar of St.
Mary the Boltons, Brompton, was invited by the Brighton Branch of the
English Church Union to speak on a recent Church committee report that had
suggested restraining Church of England ministers from dressing in rich
vestments because of the complaints from the laity etc. Mayow believed it
would become an attempt to rewrite the prayer book to force High Church
ministers like himself out of the Church of England. The local newspapers
of the times were very negative and mocking on this meeting (of the
"Brighton Ritualists").

All the best,
David,
England, the wind is getting up but it's still warm
