For those wishing to know: Rev. Edward Hoare, a Victorian Church of 
England evangelical leader responded to a church conference at Derby, 
England, where the ritualists had advocated what Hoare believed to be an 
abandoning of the traditional protestant foundation of the Church of 
England.  There's a lot about his defence of church principals in the book 
about him, available in Gutenberg.
