For those wishing to know: a "jingling rhyme" poem by John Church junr.
(1803-1853), son of John Church the preacher (1780-1833). Whilst it
doesn't possess much literary merit, it does contain a list of subscribers
(including his father) which is very useful for working out the social
circle. The author records that his sweetheart (Caroline Bloodworth) said
"she expected it would be sublimity itself". As they married four years
after the poem was published, perhaps she adjusted her standards!
All the best,
David,
Damp England
PS. His full name is John William Church but he didn't use it in the book.
