For those wishing to know William Wylie Grierson was the chief engineer of
the famous British company, the Great Western Railway. This is just a
short booklet of instructions about cant, expansion of rails and gauge
checking: all things which have come to the for in the heatwave we've
experienced in the last few weeks in England. No doubt technology has
moved on since 1922 when Grierson wrote it, but the physics hasn't.

All the best,
David,
Very hot England but with some clouds on the horizon
