Written in 1811 about the village in Shropshire where he grew up, this 
appears to be the only published history of the place until very recently. 
Whittington is not only very beautiful, but it has a ruined castle and 
most of the book is concerned with the history of the castle and the 
feudal Lords who occupied it.  If you are ever in the area, I'd recommend 
a visit (particularly on a nice day when their tea shop is open - very 
good cakes!)
