For those wishing to know: The Marylebone anti-Vaccination League, setup a
year before, was mainly a group of homoeopathists who thought vaccination
was "a lie" and particularly objected to people being forced to be
vaccinated. They organised this meeting to popularise their cause, and
two local M.D.'s attended, rather puzzled why anyone should think as the
League did. Their points are briefly made and the bulk of the pamphlet is
given over to Charles T. Pearce, who was on the committee and a long-time
opponent of vaccination - although the pamphlet doesn't say it he was
almost certainly the author. Dr. William MacOubrey, a friend of Charles,
also ridiculed vaccination - and I'm glad they produced the pamphlet as I
now know exactly where Dr. MacOubrey was on evening the 19 October 1870!

All the best,
David,
England, clouding over but still warm
