Having some sort of checklist, policy, data flow, etc. that can help guide producers and also policy enforcement would be very helpful. This would clearly need to go beyond our current policy, which is basically that (a) HTML or RST or TEI should be submitted as a master, and (b) producers should use http://epubmaker.pglaf.org to make sure derivatives work well.
Some may remember that several months ago Greg generously provided access to a PG server to put up a demonstration of the WordPress-based ebook workflow tools I'm using for my site (eb.tbicl.org) where I'm hosting the Encyclopaedia Britannica projects DP has been producing for several years. A couple days ago I posted some similar thoughts <http://eb.readingroo.ms>as just a blog post, and proposing to try to describe a highest-level conceptual workflow, as a framework for locating the different parts of the process, and discussing how they connect together (or not.) As much a personal exercise as anything, but it's there to took at and make suggestions as I go. It's not a short-term deal; I'll try to identify and even incorporate parts of the process on the server as a way to discuss feasibility. Don
