Al, I agree for rotating normal illustrations to make them vertical in the web version. The problem I have with doing this for these wide diagrams is that would make them pretty much unreadable on the Kindle and Nook. Leaving them with their original orientation would make the Kindle version much more usable. I'm going to do my best with the text versions using the <pre> tag and see how that looks on the Kindle. If that doesn't work I'll do illustrations. I'll make all the illustrations vertical. If that doesn't work out well I'll rotate them back for the Kindle Store version. There's nothing wrong with doing the trees as text in the text file and as images in the HTML version. If as images, trees such as those on the book's page 48 should be rotated clockwise 90%.

Personally, I would do the family trees as images.
Some ereaders do have the ability to zoom into the image and you can inspect it from there. The method is not perfect and for everyone.
Of course, this does not help you much, but it might be a route to go next time.
