I've tried to break down what we need to do into manageable benchmarks. Much of the content was drawn from the mailing lists; as you'll see, a lot of it is in "dump" form, where relevant snippets from discussions were dropped onto the wiki page for later clean-up and up-shotting. (All full names have been converted to initials.) Please be kind: I'm new to wiki-building (and, of course, to PG Canada). I am worried that, since nobody knows me and I have no credibility with this group, I will annoy people by creating the wiki and laying out what I think we need to do next. I hope you will give me the benefit of the doubt, and excuse my forwardness. I've done a lot of software project management - planning is an almost reflexive reaction with me by now. jen.

Hello, Sebastien, member of DP EU, could help Jennifer for the translations of the wiki. He was registered with the list - blondeel(a)clipper.ens.fr - but did not still receive anything. Can you see that? En effet, sur PG US, les livres ne sont pas acceptés lorsque nous scannons un texte libre de droit à partir d'une édition récente (pour obtenir le clearance, il faut l'image d'une couverture d'une édition antérieure à 1923...). Ainsi, nous avons de nombreux textes libres de droits qui ne pourront jamais être publiés par PG US. De plus, nous avons des textes qui ne sont libres de droits qu'au Canada (Saint Exupéry, Colette, Maurice Leblanc, par exemple). De plus, notre groupe avait commencé des discussions avec des membres de DP Europe, pour la création d'un "PG francophone". Ce PG francophone pourrait être une composante de PG Canada, éventuellement. Everyone, The draft of the non-technical 'UniBook' documentation is up on the Wiki for review/editing at http://www.jenzed.com/pgcawiki/pmwiki.php?n=Unibook.Docs -- It's pretty verbose, but still not complete -- a lot of secondary process aren't even mentioned, and I only vaguely describe many of the steps. Logging In to the Wiki

I've added basic user authentication to the PG Canada wiki (http://www.jenzed.com/pgcawiki/pmwiki.php) You must now log in before you can edit a post or add a page. I've created login accounts for everyone that's been active on the mailing list in the last few months. Use your first name (in lower case) for both user name and password, then click the "Change Password" link the in top right corner to set a new one. For now, please post problems or account requests to this list. jen.

Matters of PG Canada

Matter #1 I'm officially nominating Jennifer as our Webmaster. I don't have the time to get our site running AND get UniBook finished and documented. Matter #2 I'm trying to get our dedicated server up tonight or tomorrow. I need to know what needs to be installed on box for the wiki software, and whatever else we need. Keep in mind that this dedicated box is for our work space, not our etext distribution server. Matter #3 I'm mostly done with the non-technical documentation for UniBook (which kinda covers PG Canada too). I'm officially asking for editors and people to help me fill in details, explain things better, etc. It's currently in Open Office, but I can transpose to a wiki in a matter of 10 minutes or so. There's not a lot of formatting except the outline/blockquote paragraph indentations for sections. If we can get some other people on that, I can start on the technical documentation so we can start getting other programmers involved actively. Matter #4 For the record, I like what Jennifer has done with the wiki, and I support it as a whiteboard tool for us. However, I'd like to see full user authentication and control, and have us use it only for drafting our site content, not for publically publishing the content. Naturally, I'm only one vote, so feel free to out-vote me. Matter #5 What is the current status of the various other business and legal related endeavors which people 'voluntold' for during our conference call? -- James
